Alessio Guano ( Italy, 1984 ) is a visual artist, art curator and writer based in Italy. His research ranges between painting, mixed media collages and installation. His paintings are in permanent private and public collections. He boats collaborations with museum spaces and private art galleries. In the first period of his artistic activity Guano worked alongside important names of the Italian Visual Poetry group, a historical avant-garde born in the sixties and still active on the national territory and abroad. The verbal-visual language, which still re- emerges in his most conceptual works, also brings him closer to small artist's books production. Since 2015 he has been curator of Liber, an artist's book archive located in his hometown. His passion for art led him to develop a research space project, atelier 97 arte contemporanea, an online space that allows artists from around the world to collaborate. The vital energy and emotionality of the artist is balanced by a personal stylistic choice, collected through his own intuitive gestures, sometimes disruptive, sometimes contemplative. Using several techniques, such as acrylic paint, spray paint, collage, monotype, engraves and digital interventions, he creates works and installations, often designed for unconventional spaces such as abandoned buildings, old factories and other unexpected places. Guano’s most recent series of works is inspired by digital and mixed media contemporary researches. Using Photoshop and simple vector based programs, he combines images taken from magazines and advertisements with free geometrical forms and textures. Physical pictorial layers are often mixed with digital manipulation practices elaboration that gives life to densely digital textured compositions.
